Come and learn one of the simplest, and effective systems that was created for true survival.

Self defence techniques for real life situations

Self Defence is about survival not sport martial arts. Many martial art schools are sport/competition based these days and may use the common term “Self Defence” but don’t really teach real Self Defence techniques. There are no rules, time limits, referees or nice soft matts out there in the street, training must include situations that are designed for everyday life and learning how to deal with the adrenaline and fear induced stress along with other important issues.

Techniques taught must be close to natural body movements and reactions, generally you have 4-10 seconds to defend yourself from an aggressive attack, what you learn will be effective regardless of size, gender, weight or age.

Learning Self Defence with us keeps you aware, confident, helps you understand all aspects of what happens when defending yourself and gives you a positive outlook on life and makes you feel great!

Come and try a free class we promise you will be glad you did and at the very least walk away with a better idea of personal safety.

“Dont be afraid, be confident”

Yi Quan Kung Fu makes me feel happy and confident. I have learnt skills that help me face my fears and not be afraid. Training in class teaches me awareness of my surroundings and builds confidence and trust in my everyday life. I have a deep level of respect for all my instructors. They are highly skilled not only in teaching us the fundamentals, history and the techniques but they also teach & imbed in us the 5 virtues of Patience, Perseverance, Kindness, Understanding and Humility. The people I train with are fun and amazing individuals. I learn a lot from each of them no matter what level of training they are at, they make me feel welcome, loved and are like family. I am so honoured to be a part of this amazing group of people that have taught me life skills that will never be forgotten.

Learn it, love it and live it!

Train with the best

Most of our Instructors and students have been training for many years and are very nice people, there is no ego, anger or aggression. You will gain lifelong skills and lifelong friends.

Our students are a mixture of different backgrounds, builds, ages and experience. We have beginners and students/Instructors with over 20 years of experience. The style has been taught in Australia for over 50 years and continues to evolve and adapt to today’s Self Defence needs.

The gradings are measured by the traditional coloured sash system starting from white and working towards black and above. Students will receive a curriculum card with all techniques listed with their level. Techniques are marked each time they are taught in class and are signed off by the Instructor when ready for grading.

Training and gradings are designed to test you both physically, mentally and as close as possible to real life situations/scenarios. While training with us you will learn to defend yourself from all positions and situations e.g. standing, sitting, laying, grabbed/pulled/pushed/held down, multiple attackers, defence against weapons and knowing how to use weapons/objects.

Your curriculum will grow as will your ability to react naturally, reaching the top level of learning which is “unconscious competence”.
